A sort of tour of the place. I noted the simple and effective solutions they had for making the place run so well. (The use of the ourmedia.org site is gratefully acknowledged in serving the full pictures. The ecind.com website has a fairly low bandwidth limit).
Disha Emergency Registration - open 24 hours
Main registration counter and patient waiting area
Schedule of OPD patients for the day so patients can read them too. A bit like the railways reservation list, it is a practical evolution to the same solution
patients keep their shoes here - helps keep the hospital clean considering the high number of patients they have
One of the OPDs
Inside one of the OPDs
One of the counsellor desks. This is inside the OPD. The counsellor does post-visit counselling and is usually a paramedic, thus taking load off the eye doctor.
Tilework. Yes, it looks like brickwork and terracotta. Helps prevent stains and marks.
Inside the OPD. The covered thing is a Humphreys analyzer, used for checking field of vision in glaucoma
The kind of things the counsellor says to the patient is written up in English and the local language on the wall here, in the counsellor waiting area. So patients can browse the material before and after meeting up with the counsellor.
another shot of the counsellor desk. Excellent use of space. The size of the announcements speaker next to the desk suggests that no one needs to worry about inaudible announcements. It might be a good idea for the counsellor to use earplugs though!
Information useful for glaucoma patients is upon the wall outside the glaucoma OPD.
The inpatient beds. There are two rooms like this. Notice how shiny and clean it is. Everyone takes a pride in the place.
